South Africa rode on contrasting hundreds from Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma to register a 31-run win over India in the first of three-match ODI series in Paarl.
South Africa came up with a dominant performance in Paarl on Wednesday as the hosts registered a 35-run win over India in the first of a three-match ODI series at Boland Park. Chasing 297 for the win, India were restricted to 265 for 8 as Temba Bavuma's men were spot on on the field, led by fiery bowling spells from the South African bowlers.
Shardul Thakur played a late cameo, waging a lone battle and hitting a stylish fifty, but the match was all but lost till then as wickets kept on tumbling from the other end. Thakur took Lungi Ngidi to the cleaners in the 47th over as he smashed the South Africa pacer for two boundaries and one six. Thakur stitched a 50-plus stand for the eighth wicket with Jasprit Bumrah to lower the margin of defeat in the series opener.
