
13 new COVID-19 cases in London area Friday, no deaths

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is reporting 13 new cases of COVID-19 and no additional deaths on Friday.
There were 10 recoveries posted by the health unit, with 137 active cases in the region.
The seven-day rolling average for daily cases is down to 15.
London Health Sciences Centre is reporting 22 patients being treated for COVID-related illnesses at local hospitals on Friday, down two from the previous day.
There are 10 adult patients in critical care, five or fewer with COVID-19 in the Children's Hospital and five or fewer patients in Pediatric Critical Care, according to the hospital network.
Five or fewer staff members have tested positive for the virus and are isolating.
The health unit started vaccinating children aged five to 11 on Friday morning.
Those children are being given a shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which was approved for kids by Health Canada a week ago. They will have to wait eight weeks before getting their second dose to become fully vaccinated.

Southwestern Public Health reported 24 new COVID-19 cases and no deaths on Friday. There are 181 active cases in Elgin-Oxford, an increase of three from the previous day. There are 39 ongoing cases in Aylmer, 37 cases in Tillsonburg and 32 cases in Woodstock.
The St. Thomas General Hospital is caring for 13 patients with the virus, including three in critical care.
Huron Perth Public Health posted 16 new cases on Friday, including 12 in North Perth. There are 43 ongoing cases in the region.
Meanwhile, Ontario reported 927 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, the most on a single day in the last nine weeks.
There were six additional COVID-related deaths across the province. The seven-day rolling average for daily cases across Ontario is up to 711.
