Chief Minister Siddaramaiah allocates ₹1.35 lakh crore for development projects, criticizes BJP, emphasizes education and equitable growth.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Thursday that the State government has allocated nearly ₹1.35 lakh crore towards development projects during the current financial year.
He was speaking after taking part in the foundation stone laying ceremony for a community hostel to be constructed by the Mandya District Kurubara Sangha.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said the BJP was relentless in its false campaign that the treasury was empty owing to the implementation of the guarantee schemes.
“But the government has allocated nearly ₹1.35 lakh crore for various development works, which is there for all to see,” he added. The BJP may be blind towards it, but the people of the State can see it, said Mr. Siddaramaiah.
The Chief Minister criticised the BJP and JD(S) for claiming that he was “unlucky” for the State because of drought conditions during his tenure.
He pointed out that Karnataka received good rainfall last year. The forecasts for this year also predict favorable rains, suggesting a strong agricultural yield ahead, he said.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said the government was focused on equitable growth and social justice, and it stood for people who have been deprived of education and opportunities for centuries. Underlining the importance of education for social progress and growth, the Chief Minister said that children from villages should aspire and become doctors and engineers. It should not be the domain of a few, he added.
