Harare: Zimbabwe's economy grew by 9.64 percent year on year in the third quarter of 2025, up from 2.28 percent recorded in the same period last year, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) said Wednesday.
Grown Chirongwe, national accounts manager at ZIMSTAT, told a press briefing in Harare, the country's capital, that the positive performance reflects a broad-based recovery across key industries of the economy, supported by improved production conditions and rising activity in both goods-producing and services industries.
He said the growth was driven by strong performance in sectors such as mining and quarrying, manufacturing, finance and insurance, wholesale and retail trade, and agriculture.
In a statement issued by the International Monetary Fund in November, the agency said Zimbabwe's economic recovery in 2025 is stronger than previously anticipated, and the economy is expected to maintain strong momentum in 2026.
