Youth Congress protests in Bengaluru with anti-Modi banners over the India-U.S. trade deal, leading to police intervention.
Tension prevailed for some time at Mehkri Circle of Bengaluru on Sunday after a group of Youth Congress workers put up banners carrying slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, criticising the India–U.S. trade deal.
The banners accused the Prime Minister of “surrendering” before the U.S.
The police removed the banners, bringing the situation under control. No untoward incident was reported.
The authorities concerned are contemplating initiating action against the protesters for putting up banners without permission, officials said.

After mounting public outrage and an intense political exchange between the ruling Congress and the BJP in the State, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has put on hold the implementation of the proposed annual fare revision for Namma Metro, which was scheduled to come into effect on February 9, 2026.
