Yankees make second Cody Bellinger offer as offseason slumber appears to be ending
NY Post
The pinstripe offseason slumber could be nearing a conclusion.
The Yankees are in conversations with the Marlins about starter Edward Cabrera, sources have independently told colleague Jon Heyman and me, confirming a report from The Athletic.
I also learned the Yankees have made a second offer to Cody Bellinger after Jon first reported the initial proposal last week.
Why do I think these two items might be interconnected?

The deal that brought Aidan Thompson to the Rangers didn’t create the ripple effects that the Artemi Panarin trade did because of who departed the organization. That was only Derrick Pouliot, a 32-year-old defenseman more than two years removed from his last NHL game. It didn’t create the waves like one for, say, Vincent Trocheck, would have because of current NHL players or draft capital the Blueshirts received in return, either.
