Women, youth encouraged to lead brick-making units to meet Indiramma housing demand

Telangana district collectors encourages women and youth to set up brick units for construction of Indiramma houses, providing financial assistance.

Anticipating the demand for bricks to be used for the construction of a large number of Indiramma houses, women in Wanaparthy and Gadwal have been encouraged to set up units to make bricks using cement or fly ash. Unemployed youth too in Wanaparthy have been invited to set up the units.

According to District Collector Adarsh Surabhi, since the bricks made of clay are costly and in short supply, the State government gave permission to use cement or ash bricks for construction of Indiramma houses. 

The government had earlier announced that 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses would be constructed with 3,500 houses in each of the 119 Assembly constituencies. In the first phase, ₹5 lakh financial assistance would be provided in four instalments to beneficiaries who own land. 

Mr. Adarsh encouraged women self help groups (SHGs) and unemployed youth to set up at least three brick kiln units per mandal. They were asked to contact the Rural Development Officer for the purpose. They would be taught how to set up the units and make the bricks.

“In Gadwal district, we are planning to engage women from SHGs to make fly ash bricks. I have instructed the Mandal Parishad Development Officer and APMs to work on that. We will encourage SHGs to set up these units,” said Gadwal Collector B.M. Santhosh.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on December 5 launched an app to be used to feed and verify details of applicants. The process of verification is under way. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy had earlier directed collectors to complete the verification of 80,000 applications by the end of December.
