Witness testimony continues in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial

• Back on the stand: The defense will continue its cross-examination of the prosecution’s second witness today in the federal criminal trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs. Daniel Phillip, a male revue manager, testified about his sexual encounters with Combs and the music mogul’s former girlfriend Cassie Ventura. • Graphic video: The jury also saw hotel surveillance footage from an altercation between Combs and Ventura from 2016. Los Angeles Police Officer Israel Florez testified he responded to the distress call. Ventura is expected to take the stand in the trial as a key prosecution witness. • Federal charges: Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges that include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to life in prison. • Inside the courthouse: Combs’ trial will not be televised, per the rules of federal court. CNN will have reporting from journalists inside and outside the court. Judge Arun Subramanian said he’s inclined to grant the media’s motion for public access to sexually explicit footage and images that are expected to be submitted as evidence, but he said he hasn’t made a decision yet. Attorneys for Sean “Diddy” Combs and the prosecutors want sexually explicit videos and images sealed so that only the jury and the parties will view the material at trial.
One would think that with all the criticism around Quentin Tarantino and some of his choices, he’d be the last person to slam someone else in the industry like this.

On the eve of Netflix releasing a highly anticipated docuseries about Sean “Diddy” Combs — produced by his longtime foe Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson — the embattled mogul’s lawyers have sent a cease-and-desist letter to the streaming giant, demanding it not release “Sean Combs: The Reckoning.”
