Winter is coming — special weather statement issued for southern Quebec

Quebecers should get ready for some potentially messy winter weather starting on Sunday, that could make for slippery road conditions.
Environment Canada issued a weather statement on Friday for southern Quebec, stretching from west to east.
While the path of the system could vary, Environment Canada says areas along the St. Lawrence River could see a mix of rain and snow.
The Montreal area could see between 5 and 10 cm of snow beginning at noon on Sunday with snow continuing on through Monday.
The weather conditions, combined with an ongoing public transit strike in Montreal, could create a perfect storm for commuters Monday morning, the weather agency warns.
"The precipitation could make roads snowy and slippery, making it difficult to get around, especially during rush hour Monday morning," the weather statement reads.
Furthermore, many motorists have yet to install winter tires on their vehicles with the Dec. 1 deadline still weeks away.
Meanwhile, Environment Canada says other regions, in a line from Mauricie to Les Escoumins, north of the St. Lawrence River, could see the first "significant snowfall" of the season with some areas expected to get as much as 20 cm of snow.
