West Indies take unassailable 2-0 lead after beating Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in 2nd ODI

West Indies chased down a 274-run target to beat Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in the 2nd ODI in Antigua. Opener Evin Lewis scored 103 runs off 121 balls in the match.

West Indies openers Evin Lewis (103) and Shai Hope (84) shined again and partnered for 192 runs to help their team take an unassailable 2-0 lead over Sri Lanka in the 3-match ODI series on Friday.After being asked to bat first Sri Lanka middle-order collapsed again but opener Danushka Gunathilaka's 96, Dinesh Chandimal's 71 and Wanindu Hasaranga's 47 ensured that the visitors reach to a competitive total of 273.Spinner Jason Mohammed and pacer Alzarri Joseph were the peak of the West Indies bowling attack, taking 3 and 2 wickets in the match respectively. Joseph dismissed captain Dimuth Karunaratne (1) and Pathum Nissanka (10), while Mohammed dismissed Gunathilaka, Dinesh Chandimal and Ashen Bandara.Shai Hope and Evvin Lewis sticthed their 2nd consecitive 100-run partnership of the series to take te game completely away from the visitors, who lost the T20I series as well.Darren Bravo (10), Kieron Pollard (15) and Fabian Allen (15) were the other three West Indies wicket to fall. Nicholas Pooran (35*) and Jason Holder (2*) were on the crease when West Indies won the match with 2 balls remaining.Pacers Nuwan Pradeep and Thisara Perera scalped 2 wickets each."It was a total team performance. Our best chance was chasing so it was good to see the boys sticking to the their plans," Kieron Pollard said after the win. Sri Lanka captain Karunaratne felt that his team could have batted better. "We lost early wickets but the two batsmen who got runs couldn't convert it. The spinners are expected to take wickets, but West Indies batted really well. We lacked wicket-taking options and that's why we couldn't put pressure on West Indies."
