India captain Suryakumar Yadav’s match-winning rescue act against the USA was serious business, but the moment that followed was pure fun. The skipper was caught in a light-hearted exchange with pacer Arshdeep Singh after the opening-night thriller, with the bowler once again sharing an unfiltered glimpse of the skipper’s humour through a social media upload.

In the video, Arshdeep, in his now-familiar mock interview style, asked Suryakumar about his knock that dragged India out of trouble in their first match of the T20 World Cup. Speaking after the game, Suryakumar played along as Arshdeep jokingly highlighted his own “important” contribution during their late partnership.

Suryakumar was the only Indian batter to truly settle at the crease, batting through chaos as wickets kept falling around him. He faced 49 balls, while none of the other batters managed even a 20-ball stay, leaving the captain to watch teammate after teammate walk back. The collapse went so deep that Arshdeep himself walked in at No. 9, adding 22 runs with Suryakumar, with four of those runs coming from the pacer’s bat.

Arshdeep cheekily suggested his role was only slightly smaller than the skipper’s. Suryakumar, never one to miss a punchline, went a step further, joking that Arshdeep actually played the bigger part in the stand. He then promised, in jest, that the left-armer’s batting promotion was coming soon.
