Washington: US President Donald Trump announced Saturday that leaders of Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to hold an immediate meeting to promptly reach a ceasefire following three days of fighting along their borders.
"We happen to be, by coincidence, currently dealing on trade with both countries, but do not want to make any deal with either country if they are fighting", Trump announced on Truth Social Saturday.
Trump added that both parties are seeking to forge an immediate ceasefire and restore peace.
Prior to Trump's talks with the two leaders, the clashes along the borders entered their third day, with new flashpoints emerging on Saturday.
He said that both sides acted in self-defense through this conflict, calling on each side to cease fighting and initiate negotiations.
