US embassy holds ground-breaking ceremony for new embassy premises

The ground breaking ceremony of the new US Embassy compound near Al Khishah was held Monday morning in the presence of a large number of Qatari dignitaries, several US officials, the embassy staff and many special  invitees.“We are currently celebrating  50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Qatar and the US. It is fitting  that the ground breaking for the new US embassy compound takes place on the heels of this important bilateral milestone,” said CDA Ian J McCary, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy while addressing the gathering at the ceremony.
