Doha, Qatar: The United States Central Command issued a statement on Monday regarding the three F-15E Strike Eagles that went down over Kuwait yesterday, March 1, at 11:03 pm ET (7:00 am Kuwait Time).
In a statement, the US CENTCOM said that the aircrafts went down "due to an apparent friendly fire incident".
"During active combat—that included attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones — the U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses," it said in a press release.
It further stated that all six air crews were able to eject, safely recovered, and are in stable condition.
"Kuwait has acknowledged this incident, and we are grateful for the efforts of the Kuwaiti defense forces and their support in this ongoing operation," the US Central Command said.
