Faculty at the University of Lethbridge have voted by an overwhelming majority in favour of a strike.
Over two days last week, the University of Lethbridge Faculty Association took a vote, with the supervision of the Alberta Labour Relations Board (ALRB).
Today, the labour board confirmed that 92 per cent of the faculty who participated voted in favour of job action. About 500 members, or 87 per cent, took part.
The faculty's next step will be to file strike notice. Notice must be given a minimum of 72 hours prior to beginning a strike, meaning that the earliest a strike could start is this Thursday.
More to come.
