
Two killed in early-morning crash south of Saskatoon

Two people are dead after an early-morning highway collision on New Year’s Day, the Saskatoon Fire Department said Thursday morning.
The crash happened just south of Saskatoon on Highway 219 near Grasswood road, the news release said.
Firefighters saw two vehicles involved in a crash at 3:27 a.m. on Jan. 1. The fire crews created a safe zone and closed the highway to traffic.
Crews found one driver in each vehicle and declared both dead at the scene. Firefighters later used extrication tools to remove the drivers from the vehicles. The news release did not provide any other information on the deceased.
The scene has been turned over to police for further investigation, according to the news release.
