Turkish court refers Khashoggi case to Saudi judicial authorities

A Turkish court decided on Thursday to refer its case on the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi to Saudi judicial authorities. Anadolu Agency said on Thursday that the decision was issued by the 11th Criminal Court in Istanbul responsible for hearing the Khashoggi murder case, in a session in which the 26 defendants were absent. The session was attended by lawyers from the Bar Association, representing the accused, in addition to Khashoggi's fiancee, Hatice Cengiz, and her lawyer. During the session, the court decided to stop considering the case and transfer it to Saudi authorities in Riyadh. In March, the Turkish Public Prosecution demanded to transfer the case of the 26 people accused of killing the Saudi journalist, to the judicial authorities in the Kingdom. It is worth mentioning that in Oct. 2018, Khashoggi was killed inside his country's consulate in Istanbul.
