Trump Rages At 'Fools And Lapdogs' After Supreme Court Strikes Down His Tariffs

The justices ruled 6-3 to curtail Trump's sweeping "emergency" tariffs on U.S. trade partners around the world.
President Donald Trump predictably raged after the Supreme Court restricted his ability to impose tariffs on Friday, calling members of the court “fools and lapdogs.”
“The Supreme Court’s ruling on tariffs is deeply disappointing and I’m ashamed of certain members of the court, absolutely ashamed, for not having the courage to do what’s right for our country,” Trump said during a press conference Friday afternoon.
The court ruled 6-3 to strike down some of Trump’s sweeping “emergency” tariffs on U.S. trade partners around the world. Conservative Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh dissented.
“I’d like to thank and congratulate Justices Thomas, Alito and Kavanaugh for their strength and wisdom and love of our country, which is right now very proud of those justices,” Trump said. “When you read the dissenting opinions, there’s no way that anyone can argue against them, there’s no way.”
The ruling held that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, or IEEPA, did not authorize the president to impose tariffs, and remanded the case with instructions to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction.
