CBC
RCMP are warning people of slippery conditions on the Trans-Canada Highway after a transport truck slid off the road in the area of Clarenville, N.L.
A traffic advisory was issued at noon local time on New Year’s Day.
According to police, emergency crews responded to reports that the truck slid off the highway near Thorburn Lake, about 20 kilometres west of Clarenville.
RCMP said no injuries were reported to police.
As of 2:30 p.m. NT, the vehicle remained off the roadway, but was not obstructing traffic.
Police said motorists should still expect delays in the area. They said crews will return to remove the transport truck when weather conditions improve.
The RCMP said heavy snowfall resulted in extremely poor road conditions in the region and have asked people to consider delaying any non-essential travel.
