The Sunshine List is out: See the Londoners who earned the most in 2021
CBC
The annual list of those in Ontario's public sector who make more than $100K is out, and there are some eye-popping earnings in London.
The executive who took home the second-largest taxpayer-funded salary last year is Dr. Paul Woods, the ousted president of the London Health Sciences Centre who was fired just 11 days into the year for taking five trips to the United States during the pandemic.
Woods was entitled to a years' salary upon his termination in accordance with his employment agreement. The hospital spokesperson said they can't comment further because of the ongoing battle with Woods, who is suing the hospital, claiming wrongful dismissal.
The woman who took over for him first on an interim basis and then permanently, Jackie Schleifer Taylor, made less than Woods last year. She is the first Black woman to lead a Canadian academic hospital.
The top earner in London, and the one of two Londoners on the list of the 50-highest paid people in Ontario, is Sharon Hodgson, the dean of Ivey Business School at Western University. The other person on the provincial list is Woods.
