Santa Claus and his reindeer will stop in the town of Fort Erie, Ont., for this Saturday's holiday parade — his sled decked out in bright lights and mounted up high on a construction vehicle-turned float.
Those attending are also asked to keep an eye out for the Grinch, who has been threatening to ruin the parade, according to Bridgeburg's Business Improvement Area (BIA).
“We need you to come and be diligent,” said Korinne Antaya, vice-chair of the BIA. “Help us keep watch on the Christmas tree because he’s threatening to unplug it.”
The parade will begin at 5 p.m. this Saturday from Gilmore Road to Central Avenue before making a turn onto Jarvis Street.
This is the second year the Grinch will be making an appearance, said Antaya.
Marching bands from across the border will also join the parade and a stage will be set up for live music from Niagara-based cover duo Laurel & Hulley, in front of the Fort Erie Post Office.
The local BIA will also host its very first afterglow party in the historic district and a beer garden with front seats to the parade.
Children can hop on the Polar Express train or take a pony ride, both available at the event.
“We’re just basically making it a really old school, old-timey type of parade that we remember from being kids,” said Antaya.
