CBC
The hospital in Inuvik will be reducing its services over the weekend, impacting labour and delivery and emergency surgery and elective surgeries.
In an advisory Friday, the territory’s Health and Social Services Authority said the reductions will be in place until Monday.
Any patients immediately impacted have been notified and have a plan in place for their care, the department said.
Anyone who requires emergency surgery over the weekend will be transferred to Yellowknife for care.
During the temporary suspension patients who are 37-weeks pregnant or more and who are planning to give birth in Inuvik are being contacted and advised to transfer care to Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife. Pre-and-post natal assessments and care will continue at IRH.
Pregnant patients in Inuvik who require assessment or go into labour over the weekend should still present to the Inuvik emergency department for care.
Anyone who is pregnant and approaching their delivery date and has not been contacted, should call the Inuvik hospital.
