Tejaswi Yadav responds to BJP leader's allegations of ₹26-crore road construction scam, criticizes Nitish Kumar's governance.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejaswi Yadav on Wednesday (January 29, 2025) hit back at BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha over the alleged ₹26-crore road construction scam while he was in charge.
Mr. Sinha on Tuesday levelled serious charges against Mr. Yadav, who is currently Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, alleging that illegal payments of more than ₹26.16 crore had been made for the construction of three roads in the Gaya division during Mr. Yadav’s stint as Road Construction Minister.
Mr. Yadav said Mr. Sinha did not know anything about his own department and his allegation was baseless.
“He is an immature and ignorant politician; he has made baseless, facts-less and hasty allegations. He is a Minister who does not understand his own department. This matter seems to be related to the internal conflict going on within the BJP,” Mr. Yadav told the media in Patna.
The RJD leader said, ”Though he [Mr. Sinha] has become Deputy Chief Minister, he himself does not believe that he is the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. Neither Samrat Choudhary (BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister) nor Nitish Kumar (Chief Minister) give him any attention. Even the engineers and officials of his department do not give him any attention. There is competition going on between Mr. Choudhary, Mr. Sinha and Dilip Jaiswal (BJP State president) to abuse me and Lalu ji.”
Mr. Sinha had alleged that irregularities were found in the construction of three roads in the Gaya division. He had announced that the Road Construction department would review and probe all the tenders awarded to Raja Construction, claiming that the owner of the construction company was close to RJD MP Surendra Yadav, who represents the Jehanabad Lok Sabha constituency.
Reacting to the Minister’s ordering probe into the alleged scam, Mr. Yadav said “let him do it and when the right time will come, everyone would be exposed and action would be taken against all such people, including Mr. Sinha.”
