A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Abdoul Aziz Sarr, 14, Toronto police say.
Sarr was stabbed near a fast-food restaurant in the city's east end on Saturday night, they said, and died in hospital.
The 16-year-old turned himself in on Monday, police announced in a news release Thursday.
He has been charged with first-degree murder and was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. Police are continuing to appeal for information from the public connected to the case.
Staff at a community health centre in Scarborough described Sarr as a kind, hardworking teenager who had a bright future ahead of him.

This year marks 200 years since London was founded. As part of the bi-centennial, local carver Mary-Ann Jack-Bleach is paying tribute to some of the city's black pioneers. Once complete, the carving will be displayed at the Silverwoods Community Centre this fall. Jack-Bleach spoke with CBC Afternoon Drive host Matt Allen about the individuals being featured in the carving.
