“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,” the company stated.
Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, who is at the center of a scandal focused on a viral video featuring him cozying up to another company executive at a Coldplay concert’s kiss cam, has stepped down following online speculation of an affair.
“As stated previously, Astronomers are committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the company’s statement read. “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”
The company’s board is now seeking its next chief executive, as Pete DeJoy, co-founder and chief product officer, will continue to serve as interim CEO.
“Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI,” the statement continued. “While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not.”
The viral clip taken of a jumbotron from Coldplay’s concert in Boston, Wednesday night showed Byron embracing his chief people officer Kristin Cabot from behind before realizing they were caught on camera. They then scrambled to hide their faces.
