T20 World Cup | Mohammad Nabi still has a lot of cricket left in him: Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan
The Hindu
Rashid Khan praises Mohammad Nabi's performance and emphasises the need for Afghanistan to secure early wins in the T20 World Cup.
After its impressive run to the semifinals in the T20 World Cup in 2024, a lot was expected from Afghanistan in this year’s showpiece.
However, two defeats in the first two games set Rashid Khan & Co. back and their hopes of advancing out of the group stage took a beating.
“Overall, if you look, I feel we played some good cricket, especially the game against South Africa. A couple of super overs and you can’t really say things went wrong for us,” the Afghanistan skipper said ahead of the final league fixture against Canada at the MAC Stadium in Chennai.
Rashid highlighted the importance of winning the initial games in marquee events.
“The first two games were so important for us. I think the win against New Zealand in the last WC gave us momentum.”
He also said no team could be taken lightly and they had to beat the big teams to advance deep in any event.
