Sudbury police arrest 59-year-old man for defacing Pride crosswalk

Sudbury, Ont., police have arrested and charged a 59-year-old man with mischief for defacing a Pride flag painting along a downtown crosswalk.
The Pride crosswalk on Minto Street was defaced with white paint on Aug. 3.
Police say the person responsible was caught on video surveillance footage.
In a news release, police say they believe the vandalism was motivated by hate or bias against the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
The man cannot be named because he has not yet been sworn through the court process.
He has a court date on Oct. 30 to answer to the charge of mischief.

Environmental group Greenpeace is calling for more transparency on the part of Canada's largest pulp and paper company, saying it has received millions of dollars in government funding without providing the public with details of how that money is being used or sharing its plans for the future of Canada's forests.
