Subway push victim films from tracks as bystander fends off attacker who left 83-year-old fighting for life
NY Post
Chilling cellphone footage taken by a victim of a random subway shove shows the moment a migrant who allegedly shoved him and an 83-year-old man calmly walk away after the unprovoked violence.
Video obtained by The Post shows Honduran national Bairon Hernandez, 34, strolling along the platform after allegedly pushing an 83-year-old man and a second younger man onto the tracks at a station on the Upper East Side around noon Sunday.
A bystander is seen confronting Hernandez before going over to the tracks to try to help the two passengers on the tracks at the Lexington Avenue-63rd Street station.
Hernandez was arrested at about 5 a.m. Tuesday at a Brooklyn homeless shelter and charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, assault and reckless endangerment.
Grandfather and Air Force veteran Richard Williams, the older of the two victims, is still fighting for his life at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell.
“My father, Richard, is on a respirator in the ICU in the hospital. That’s all we are going to say,” one of Williams’ daughters told The Post on Tuesday.

“Everyone is worrying about what comes next,” reports David Patrikarakos at The Free Press of what people in Iran are telling him. He talked to “a friend in Tehran I will call Reza. ‘The bombing is heavy,’ he told me. ‘And it’s frightening. But we have been frightened and terrorized for almost 50 years.’ ” No one sees any “signs of mass uprising — it’s just too dangerous” as “gangs of Basij enforcers, often heavily armed, roam the streets, threatening civilians and forcing them indoors.” Indeed, “the entire regime is now on a war footing,” but: “The state is in disarray. Senior officials are scattered and confused” and “an internal power struggle appears to be under way.” He concludes: “Despite the Islamic Republic’s best efforts, the battle for Iran — by both external powers and Iranians inside the country — is far from over. It may take time, but I am convinced this regime will fall.”
