Doha, Qatar: Strong northwesterly winds are expected to cause a noticeable drop in temperatures across the country, accompanied by an increased feeling of cold, according to Saqr Al-Suwaidi, weather forecaster at the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), who reviewed the latest weather developments and issued key public advisories.

Speaking to Qatar TV yesterday, Al-Suwaidi explained that weather conditions from the start of the day ranged from partly cloudy to cloudy, with most areas experiencing scattered rainfall.

He said that some of the rain was accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly during the early morning and pre-dawn hours. As the day progressed, the influence of active to strong northwesterly winds intensified, leading to the movement of a dust wave from the northern Arabian Peninsula and resulting in reduced horizontal visibility. He noted that these conditions are expected to persist until today.

Addressing marine conditions, Al-Suwaidi confirmed that marine warnings remain in effect over the coming days. Although the chances of thunderstorms have begun to diminish, warnings continue due to strong northwesterly winds. Wave heights are expected to range between four and up to ten feet in some offshore areas, prompting a clear advisory to avoid all marine activities during the warning period.

Al-Suwaiti emphasized the importance of public awareness and urged residents to follow official updates issued by the General Civil Aviation Authority through its approved platforms. He also provided guidance to the public, noting that the strong winds will contribute to lower temperatures and a heightened sensation of cold.
