'Space hurricane' seen in Earth's upper atmosphere for first time

For the first time in history, astronomers have detected what they've deemed a "space hurricane" in Earth's upper atmosphere.
The "space hurricane," a cyclone-like auroral spot with a diameter of over 621 miles (1,000 kilometers), was found swirling in the northern polar ionosphere. The plasma mass reportedly had a quiet center, multiple arms, and a "trend of anticlockwise rotation."More Related News
