As a result of the snowstorm, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Delaware are among the states hit hardest by power outages.
Thousands of Americans are without power after another formidable winter snowstorm hit the Northeast United States.
Another nor'easter battered the East Coast Sunday, Feb. 22, into Monday, Feb. 23, bringing with it feet of snow. Millions were under blizzard warnings beginning late in the weekend, with New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declaring states of emergency and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani issuing a travel ban.
Massachusetts, New Jersey and Delaware were hit the hardest by power outages as a result, according to USA TODAY's outage tracker. Roughly 8% of Massachusetts customers were without power around 10:15 a.m. ET on Feb. 23, totaling 256,374 left in the dark. In Barnstable County and Nantucket County, between 65% and 68% of the population were without power. New Jersey had 130,217 around the same time, totaling about 3.1% of power customers.
