Congress party's central leadership takes action against MLC Teenmaar Mallanna for burning copies of socio-economic caste survey.
Congress party’s central leadership has taken a serious note of the conduct of its MLC Teenmaar Mallanna alias Chintapandu Naveen, who burnt the copies of the socio-economic caste survey. Mr. Mallanna, who has been quite critical of his own party and its leaders in recent times, went to the extent of burning a copy of the survey and made offensive remarks against the exercise done by the government. He had praised the Integrated Household Survey conducted by the then BRS government in 2014 and said the present socio-economic survey by the Congress government was nothing but a survey of the forward castes and not integrated survey. “This is the last straw in a series of his questionable conduct in recent past where he made remarks against the party and partymen. The AICC leadership is upset that his act of burning the copy of the survey report is nothing but belittling the concept of Rahul Gandhi’s desire to empower the Backward Classes,” a top TPCC functionary told The Hindu on Wednesday night.
The party’s Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) is expected to meet on Thursday or Friday and discuss the developments. “A notice asking Mr. Mallanna to show cause why action should not be taken against him for his anti-party activities is expected,” the TPCC leader remarked. The MLC came under criticism after his alleged disparaging remarks against a community while addressing the BC conclave in Warangal. His comments against the forward community did not go down well with the Congress leaders from the said community, who lodged a complaint.
The TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, to a question at a press conference here on Wednesday, has said that anyone crossing the party line will face action. “Anyone who has crossed the party line will face action by the Disciplinary Committee,” he said.
