"While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future," the former couple's attorneys said.
FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf have privately settled the damning lawsuit in which FKA Twigs accused the actor of “relentless abuse.”
The terms of the settlement are unclear. FKA Twigs, born Tahliah Barnett, filed the assault and battery lawsuit against LaBeouf in December 2020, the year after the two ended their romantic relationship.
Barnett’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, and LeBeouf’s attorney, Shawn Holley, said in a joint statement obtained by multiple outlets that the case was settled outside of court.
“Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court,” the statement said. “While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future.”
In her 16-page complaint, Barnett said LaBeouf, 39, woke her up in the middle of the night while she was asleep and strangled her, threatened to crash a car he was driving while they were in it, and knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease. She also claimed that he successfully isolated her from her friends and family and that he admitted to shooting stray dogs to prepare for his role in “The Tax Collector.”
