Sheikha Asma scales world's second highest summit K2

Qatari mountaineer Sheikha Asma bint Thani al-Thani has become the first Arab to scale 6 of the 8000er after reaching the world's second highest summit, K2 in Pakistan at 8,611 metres. Besides being the first Qatari woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest, Sheikha Asma has become the first Qatari woman to reach the summit of Mount Denali, the highest peak in North America and one of the Seven Summits, at a height of 6,190m. She is also the first Arab to reach the summit of Mount Kangchenjunga – the world’s third highest mountain located between Nepal and India at an elevation of 8,586m. In January, she had become the first Qatari to ski to both North and South poles. Also, less than 24 hours after reaching the summit of Mount Everest, Sheikha Asma recently became the first Qatari woman to scale Mount Lhotse, the fourth highest mountain in the world at 8,516m.
