Seth Meyers Shreds Donald Trump’s ’Les Misérables’ Visit With A Show-Stopping Punch Line
HuffPost
The “Late Night” host zinged the president with a scathing line.
Seth Meyers swiped at Donald Trump’s plans to attend a performance of “Les Misérables” at the Kennedy Center with a punch line that drew a sharp comparison between the president and the musical’s main character.
“It’s the story of a convicted criminal who struggles to find redemption by going to see ‘Les Misérables’ at the Kennedy Center,” Meyers deadpanned.
Trump, the only U.S. president to have been convicted of felony crimes, is scheduled to attend Wednesday night’s performance of the production, which tells the story of an ex-convict seeking a second chance following 19 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread.
The president’s visit is already stirring controversy. Around 10 to 12 cast members reportedly plan to skip the performance in protest of Trump’s attendance. Trump himself has drawn criticism for purging the traditionally bipartisan Kennedy Center board and naming himself chairman.
