
Sensex slumps 257 points; Nifty ends below 17,850 ahead of Fed policy outcome

Sun Pharma was the top loser in the Sensex pack.
Equity benchmark Sensex tumbled 257 points on Wednesday tracking losses in index majors HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Kotak Bank amid a negative trend in global markets ahead of the U.S. Fed’s policy outcome.
The 30-share index ended 257.14 points or 0.43 % lower at 59,771.92. Similarly, Nifty fell 59.75 points or 0.33 % to 17,829.20.
Sun Pharma was the top loser in the Sensex pack, falling over 3 %, followed by IndusInd Bank, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank.

Insurance penetration and density are often misunderstood and do not reveal how many families are insured or whether they would be financially secure if the main earning member were to die. The real issue is not reach but adequacy, as households may have life insurance but not enough cover to replace lost income, leaving them financially vulnerable.
