Rupee opens at 79.29 against US dollar

On the interbank forex market on Wednesday, the rupee rose to 79.29 against the US dollar.
The rupee opened at 79.29 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday as concerns of a wider current account deficit came to the forefront after the country's trade deficit hit an all-time high in June.
On the interbank forex market on Wednesday, the rupee rose to 79.29 against the American currency. On Tuesday, the rupee fell 41 paise to close at an all-time low of 79.37 against the US dollar. It had touched the previous record low of 79.12 last week and had closed trading at 78.95 on Monday.
The Sensex gained 0.62 per cent or 331.51 points to 53,465.86, and the Nifty was up 0.52 per cent or 82.65 points to 15,893.50.
Data late on Monday showed India's June trade deficit widened to a record high of $25.63 billion, following a rise in crude oil and coal imports, from $9.61 billion a year earlier.
Foreign portfolio outflows from equities in the month of June stood at $6.6 billion, the highest since March 2020, taking the total outflows so far in 2022 to over $30 billion.
