The death of a 19-year-old man in Regina during the weekend is now a homicide investigation.
Police were called to a home on the 1000 block of 12th Avenue at the corner of Winnipeg Street just before 1 a.m. CST Saturday.
When they arrived, officers found a 19-year-old man dead inside the home.
According to police, he’d been shot.
The Regina Police Service major crime unit and the forensic identification unit were brought in to investigate and the death was determined to be a homicide.
Police say the victim’s name won’t be released at the family’s request.
It’s the city’s 10th homicide so far this year.
On Tuesday, Regina police issued a news release asking for help to find a firearm connected to the homicide.
"Investigators believe the firearm may have been disposed of in the area following the homicide," police said.
The area of focus stretches from Saskatchewan Drive south to Victoria Avenue, and Montreal Street east to Wallace Street.
"[Police are] asking area residents to check all areas around their property including, but not limited to, eavestroughs, shrubs, under decks and inside any unsecured sheds or garages."
Anyone who sees anything is asked to call police at 306-777-6500.
"Do not touch the weapon. Stay with it and contact police immediately," the news release said.
