Rangers’ Alexandar Georgiev brings out best vs. Islanders
NY Post
Rangers goaltender Alexandar Georgiev couldn’t tell you why he is always at the top of his game when facing the Islanders, but there’s no doubt it has been a trend over his four seasons in New York.
After his 31-save performance in Friday’s 4-1 win at the Coliseum, Georgiev now owns a 7-2-0 career record with a .944 save percentage and a stunning 1.70 goals-against average when facing the Islanders. Not too shabby. “I really don’t have an answer to that,’’ the 25-year-old Bulgarian said when asked about his mastery of the Islanders. “I don’t really check the stats against certain teams — I know the league keeps track of that. But at the same time, it’s a pretty short amount of games that you can compare it to. I just come to play hockey. It’s fun to play in the big rivalry games.’’
SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.
