Rain in Erode causes inconvenience to students, workers, and motorists
Rain in the morning and evening caused inconvenience to students, workers, pedestrians and motorists across the city and outskirts on Monday.
The Meteorological Department, Chennai, had forecast heavy to very heavy rain on Monday. However, many places experienced rain from 7.15 a.m. to 8 a.m. affecting the movement of students, motorists and office-goers. Due to overnight showers, rainwater stagnated at a few places on the arterial roads, but traffic was not affected.
Rain in the evening affected vehicle movement. Most of the places in the district received moderate to light rainfall in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
As of 8 a.m. on Monday, the district received a total rainfall of 227.20 mm. The rainfall recorded in various places were Chennimalai 27 mm, Perundurai 20 mm, Varattupallam Dam 18 mm, Elandakuttai Medu 17.60 mm, Bhavanisagar dam 17.20 mm, Gobichettipalayam 16.20 mm, Bhavani 14 mm, Modakkurichi and Kodumudi each 12 mm, and Erode 9 mm.
