Doha: The Qatar Football Association's (QFA) Referees Department organised a field experience for a number of promising referees alongside elite referees, on the sidelines of their officiating matches in the Doha Bank Stars League.
The field experience took place during the Al Arabi vs. Al Rayyan match, part of the eleventh round of the Doha Bank Stars League, which was held yesterday, Sunday, at Al Thumama Stadium and ended in a 2-2 draw.
The experience saw the promising referees arrive early at the stadium, where they met with the match officials and observed firsthand the preparations leading up to the match and the distribution of roles within the refereeing team.
The experience also included a visit to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) room, where the promising referees received a practical and detailed explanation of what happens inside the room during a match, especially as they are candidates to officiate international tournament matches where VAR technology will be implemented.
This initiative aimed to provide promising referees with the opportunity to directly observe the workings of elite referees before, during, and after matches, and to benefit from their expertise in technical aspects, mental and physical preparation, and communication and cooperation mechanisms among members of the refereeing team on the field, thus ensuring the highest level of professionalism in match management.
