Guatemala: Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) took part in the inaugural meeting of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC), convened in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Acting President of QCAA, Mohamed Faleh Al Hajri, headed the State of Qatar’s delegation to the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Al Hajri highlighted that the strategic partnership between QCAA and LACAC has been growing since the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between both sides in 2022, along with the capacity-building initiatives set out in that memorandum, including scholarships and training programmes. 

In addition, Al Hajri asserted that the State of Qatar is committed to expanding the scope of support for the advancement of the professional growth of aviation experts across Latin America, highlighting plans to launch new training courses specifically tailored to the region’s priorities. 

He noted the path of bilateral collaboration with 21 member states in LACAC through open skies air service agreements, which serve as bridges for air connectivity, providing opportunities to strengthen communication, achieve further economic growth, and develop social and cultural exchanges.

Throughout the meetings at this event, officials lavished praise on the State of Qatar’s leading role, along with its colossal efforts in advancing the civil aviation sector and international cooperation in this field. The meeting discussed avenues for fostering bilateral cooperation, especially with respect to the upcoming General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).  The participants underscored the importance of coordinating the positions and stepping up efforts to ensure the success of this upcoming event.
