Qatari Forum for Authors marks World Day for Cultural Diversity
The Qatari Forum for Authors held on Thursday via video conference technology a symposium as part of the celebration of the World Day for Cultural Diversity, which is marked on May 21 each year. The forum's celebration of the World Day for Cultural Diversity is within the activities of Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021, and the forum's celebration on this occasion includes a number of activities. The opening of the symposium featured speeches by HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali, Secretary General of the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science Dr Hamda Hassan al-Sulaiti, and HE Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Icesco) Dr Salem bin Mohamed al-Malik. In his speech on the occasion, HE the Minister of Culture and Sports pointed out that the event of the Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World confirms that culture is a light that illuminates the path of human civilisation, and it is a safety valve for society as it is closely linked to identity, adding that any society that seeks to enhance its identity requires to take care of its culture. Its distinction from other societies will be a source of richness for civilisation because civilisation advances by difference rather than symmetry, and cultural diversity is based on the perception of human dignity, he said.More Related News
