Qatar warns against using certain baby milk powder products produced by Abbott company

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has warned against the use of infant formula milk products - Similac Human Milk Fortifier, EleCare, EleCare JR, produced by Abbott company with origin in the United States of America due to the possibility of contamination of some batches of these products with Salmonella and Cronobacter bacteria. The ministry recommended consumers to avoid consuming it in order to preserve the health of their children.
MoPH said in a statement that it took necessary precautions, as soon as it received a notification from the International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN) regarding potentially contaminated baby milk powder products.
The precautionary measures included withdrawing and preventing the sale of these products and referring samples of them for laboratory analysis, and measures were taken to withdraw samples of similar imported products. The ministry points out that the places for distributing suspected contaminated products were limited due to the nature of these products.
The Ministry of Public Health states that no disease cases related to these products have been recorded in the country.
