Qatar to ensure safety, security of international standards for World Cup

The two-day FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Security Last Mile Conference started Sunday at InterContinental Doha under the patronage of of HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Security Committee at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC). The conference is being held by the Safety & Security Operations Committee (SSOC) of the Security Committee, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.Maj-Gen Abdul Aziz Abdullah al-Ansari While addressing the opening ceremony, Maj-Gen Abdul Aziz Abdullah al-Ansari, head of the Safety & Security Operations Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, said that the conference represents coordination and cooperation between countries and stakeholders on the international level while acting as a milestone in the journey towards the World Cup. “The best international safety and security standards will be ensured and Qatar’s focus is on hosting the safest and most secure World Cup,” al-Ansari said, adding that Qatar continues to implement measures and preparations to achieve the safety and security. FIFA Director of Security Helmut Spahn He noted that Qatar is among the safest countries with its lowest crime rate and explained that Qatar could successfully organise several major events including the FIFA Arab World Cup while providing the best safety and security services. He noted that Qatar received recognition from the participants for the successful hosting. He explained that the workshops at the conference discuss and agree on safety and security plans while exchanging information between countries and other stakeholders.Pictures: Shaji Kayamkulam Al-Ansari further explained that the country has developed plans while hosting various events while organising events and holding training programmes. FIFA Director of Security Helmut Spahn also addressed the opening session. He noted that Qatar’s efforts are outstanding saying that safety and security plans have been so far signed in and all the objectives will be achieved.
