Doha: The Qatar Meteorology Department announced the start of the Al-Shola star period, one of the final seasonal markers of winter, which began to rise on January 2, 2026, and will last for 13 days.
In a post shared on its official social media platforms, the department explained that Al-Shola is the third star of the winter season and the last of the Al Mraba'aniya period, which traditionally marks the coldest days of the year in the region.
Meteorologists noted that this period is typically associated with lower temperatures, making it one of the coldest phases of the winter season. The department also pointed out that Al-Shola coincides with the continued formation of fog, particularly during early morning hours.
