Lisbon: Minister of Labour H E Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri met with Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security of the Portuguese Republic, H E Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho, alongside senior Portuguese labour authorities.
The meetings aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation, exchange expertise, and explore best practices in labour governance and workplace development.
Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between the two countries, promoting knowledge transfer, and identifying strategic opportunities to advance joint initiatives in occupational health and safety, social protection, and workforce development.
Dr. Al Marri highlighted Qatar’s proactive approach to digital transformation in the labour market. He noted that comprehensive reforms, including modernised labour legislation and advanced inspection systems, have been implemented to promote flexibility, fairness, compliance, and sustainable working conditions, particularly in the areas of occupational safety and health.
The Minister also emphasised the alignment between Qatar’s experience in social protection and decent work with Portugal’s policies. He stressed that collaboration between the two nations represents a forward-looking model that balances economic efficiency with social equity.
