On the sidelines of the forum, Jordanian Prime Minister Dr Bisher Hani al-Khasawneh met with the heads of delegations participating in the event, including Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani.

Trade volume between the State of Qatar and Jordan stood at over QR624mn in 2021, according to Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, who led a delegation at the ‘3rd Gulf-Jordanian Communication Forum’ held in Amman. Held under the theme ‘New Aspects for Economic and Investment Co-operation’, the forum was organised by the Federation of Gulf Co-operation Council Chambers (FGCCC), in co-operation with the Secretariat General of GCC and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC). The chamber’s included board members Abdel-Rahman Abdel-Jalil Abdel-Ghani and Dr Mohamed Jawhar al-Mohamed, as well as general manager Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi and a number of prominent businessmen. Qatar’s ambassador to Jordan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim al-Thani also was present at the inauguration ceremony. On the sidelines of the forum, Jordanian Prime Minister Dr Bisher Hani al-Khasawneh met with the heads of delegations participating in the event, including Sheikh Khalifa. In a statement, Sheikh Khalifa lauded the close relations between GCC states and Jordan “in all fields,” especially in the economic and commercial sectors, noting that the Gulf private sector enjoys distinguished relations with its Jordanian counterpart. Sheikh Khalifa expressed hope that the forum would contribute to enhancing economic and commercial ties between both parties and transferring the strong brotherly relations between the Gulf and Jordanian private sectors to broader horizons and create common benefits to citizens, the economy and governments, and reflects a distinct model for Arab-Arab economic relations. Sheikh Khalifa also underscored the historic, deep-rooted relations between Qatar and Jordan in the economic and commercial fields, pointing to the common concern to elevate such relations to higher levels and strengthen co-operation between the Qatari and Jordanian private sectors to spur economic growth, encourage mutual investment projects, and increase trade volume. He said the chambers of commerce of both countries have a major role in developing co-operation relations between the private sectors through activating joint business councils, intensifying mutual visits, and holding meetings that address ways to enhance co-operation, increase trade exchange, and advance joint economic relations. Sheikh Khalifa emphasised that Qatari businessmen are interested to expand their investments in Jordan in various sectors like healthcare, tourism, banking, education, real estate, equities, and alternative energy. He noted that there are hundreds of Jordanian companies operating in Qatar, in partnership with Qatari companies in sectors, such as trading, contracting, construction, interior design, maintenance, real estate, education, and services, among others. Sheikh Khalifa invited Qatari and Jordanian businessmen to forge partnerships and alliances, whether in Qatar or Jordan, stressing that both countries enjoy an attractive investment climate and offer a host of affordable opportunities. On behalf of Jordan’s Prime Minister, the country’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yousef Shamali inaugurated the forum, which aims at reviewing investment opportunities in economic and commercial sectors and addressing top challenges facing the commercial GCC-Jordanian co-operation and means to overcome them.
