Doha: The Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation successfully organized the first edition of the Golden Belt Boxing Championship, held over three days at the Ladies Sports Hall at Aspire Academy, in an atmosphere marked by intense competition and a high standard of organization.
Staged from 8 to 10 January 2026, the championship featured a series of thrilling bouts that drew widespread praise from spectators and reflected both strong participation and advanced technical standards. The event highlighted the significant progress being made by boxing at the local and regional levels.
A total of 87 boxers took part in the tournament across three age categories: Juniors (Under 17), Youth (Under 19), and Men (Over 19). The participants represented 15 sports clubs from four countries: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kazakhstan.
In the Juniors category, Abdullah Al-Faqih claimed the gold medal in the 54kg division, while Tamim Louay Ali secured silver in the 75kg category, and Hamad Al-Shaibi earned silver in the over 80kg division.
