Doha, Qatar: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani received a phone call from HE Dr. Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister indicated that the Iranian missile attacks were directed at American interests and not at the State of Qatar.
For his part, His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs categorically rejected these claims, emphasizing that the facts on the ground clearly demonstrate that the attacks targeted civilian and residential areas within the State of Qatar, including the vicinity of Hamad International Airport, vital infrastructure, and industrial areas, including liquefied natural gas production facilities. This constitutes a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar and the principles of international law.
His Excellency pointed out that the attacks were not limited to missiles, but also continued with drone attacks, in addition to aircraft that violated Qatari airspace and were bravely intercepted by the Qatari Armed Forces. He emphasized that these practices reflect nothing but an escalatory approach by the Iranian side and do not indicate any genuine desire for de-escalation or a solution. Rather, they seek to harm its neighbors and drag them into a war that is not theirs.
His Excellency also called for an immediate halt to these attacks on the countries of the region that have distanced themselves from this war, and for prioritizing the higher interests of their peoples. He stressed that such attacks do not reflect any goodwill on the part of the Iranian side towards its neighbors.
